Tooth decay is quite normal to everyone today. But if you have tooth decay that goes deep inside the innermost layers of a tooth, it infect the pulp of your tooth. And if it has gone to a bad stage, you can see an abscess formed. Many times, however, the infection doesn’t occur, but the pulp will become very inflamed. The only way to damp down the situation and save the tooth is to undergo a dental treatment known as a root canal. Before the infection spreads to other area of your mouth, you need to take the help of your root canal dentist.
In severe cases the tooth might need to be extracted too. Most of us think that merely extracting a tooth can save our expense and suffering of root canal and we all tend to skip the procedure. But it is not the case; the pus collected in the gum cannot be removed by removing teeth alone.
The dentist will have to take an x-ray to get a better idea of the canals. The process of root canal involves several process firstly, the delivery of the local anaesthesia. After the patient is sedated , the dentist will then cut through the crown which allows him to get down into the chamber of the tooth with the pulp in it. He then cleans out the infected pulp using a tool called an endodontic file and use an antiseptic solution to clean out the infection.
The canal is then filled with a substance called gutta-percha which is permanent and ensures that the canals don’t suffer similar infection in the future. The process may take time, but the result is so relieving. Hence do not ignore if you notice any collection of pus in your gums.
