Dental
implants are used when a tooth has been lost
or is missing.
It provides an artificial tooth that looks amazingly
natural and feels secure. There are three stages involved
in dental implants.
During the first stage, a titanium post (the “implant”)
is surgically placed into the bone where it is left
to
heal. During the next stage, the dental surgeon will
place
a small abutment over the top of the implant
and will
take an impression of your mouth, which will
be sent
to a specialist dental laboratory. The laboratory
technician will then make the replacement tooth, a
“crown”. During the final stage of treatment, the crown is placed
over the implant.
The implant is permanent and will feel and function
like a healthy tooth. Dental implants are the Rolls
Royce of replacing lost and missing teeth.
